Welcome to Laurel Hill Nursery, LLC, a family owned and operated nursery specializing in daylilies. We are located in a peaceful hollow in the Appalachian Mountains of southwestern Virginia.

Visit our new blog ~ Life on a Farmlet!

We are buried in snow right now, but we are still thinking about gardening! This has been one of those old-fashioned winters. How much more will there be? We have enjoyed the snow, and it should be good for the ground, but it will be nice to see some green again!

It won't be long before the daylilies start coming up.

Happy gardening!

Heritage Daylilies

Whether you know them as Vintage Daylilies, Heritage Daylilies, or Heirloom Daylilies, they have an old-fashioned, simple charm about them. We have several varieties available at excellent prices. See list here.

Collections

Still don't know what you want? Try one of our new collections. Save yourself the trouble of trying to pick daylilies that will look good together, and save yourself a little money, too.  These collections will last while we have sufficient stock.

The daylily is a member of the lily family Liliaceae and the genus Hemerocallis. Daylilies are native to the countries of Japan, Siberia, Korea, China, and Eurasia. In the early 1930s, hybridizers in the United States and England began to work with the wild daylilies to produce different colors and flower shapes. Today, there is a wide range of colors, including near white, cream, creamy yellow, lemon-yellow, golden-yellow, orange, apricot, pink, rose, scarlet, wine red, red-violet, purple, and many combinations of those. Modern daylilies display a complex variety of special features such as eyes, watermarks, halos, picotee edges, and diamond dusting. Click here to see our catalog. Daylilies are "the perfect perennial" because:

  • They will grow and thrive in a wide range of climates (depending on the cultivar)

  • They are delightfully (although, unfortunately, not completely) pest free and disease free, and thus a good choice for any gardener who doesn't want to have to fuss over his or her flowers.

  • They are generally easy to grow and notoriously resistant to dying, even at the hands of brown-thumbers. They are drought-resistant and undemanding.

  • There are many different colors, shapes, and sizes available
